Mobile Dog Grooming Boise

Regular dog grooming services are very important for your pet. There are many health issues that can be spotted and brought to your attention before they become serious issues.

Your dog should be groomed every 4-10 weeks depending on the breed or lifestyle of your pet. Appointments can be made online for one time services or reoccurring services.

There are 5 important steps to a good dog grooming:

NAILS

They should be kept at an appropriate length. If their nails get too long it could cause their toes to curl up which makes them uncomfortable and leads to arthritis in their feet. Nails can grow so long they curl, around and grow into their pads. If your pet walks on a hard surface and you can hear their nails clicking then that is a good sign their nails are too long.

EARS

Routine ear cleaning eliminates mites and dirt that can cause issues. Your groomer can inform you of conditions they see that will affect your dog’s health, such as infections. Certain breeds grow hair in their ears and it is very important to have the hair removed to prevent any issues.

GLANDS

Periodic expression of the anal gland will help prevent infection and impaction. If your pet is dragging their bottom across the ground then it is a good sign that they need their anal gland expressed.

SKIN

During the bathing and drying process your groomer can observe many skin issues such as ticks, fleas, hot spots, rashes, dryness, flaking, tumors and other abnormalities. Extreme odors are often noted indicating issues that should be seen by your local vet.

HAIR

The groomer’s most important tool is the high density dryer. The dryer breaks loose the undercoat so that it can be removed and breaks up mats in the longer haired breeds. This process enables the skin to breathe and unblocks pores to promote a healthy shiny coat and removes excess unwanted hair.
